TVK Madurai Maanadu on August 21: The Party Rises High
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the party led by popular actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay, has rescheduled its eagerly anticipated second state-level political conference. Originally set for August 25, the event will now be held a few days earlier, on Thursday, August 21, 2025. The conference, known as TVK Madurai Maanadu, will take place at Parapathi village near Madurai.

Notably, the event will take place in Parapathi, a village close to Madurai. To accommodate the massive turnout, TVK has arranged a sprawling 500-acre venue to welcome lakhs of supporters from across Tamil Nadu.
Reason for Date Change
Consequently, TVK changed the date after receiving a request from the Madurai police department. According to TVK General Secretary Bussy Anand, the police raised concerns due to Vinayagar Chaturthi falling soon after the initial date.
During a discussion with Madurai’s Assistant Superintendent of Police, Bussy Anand received advice to reschedule the event to avoid law and order issues. As a result, the party accepted the suggestion and fixed August 21 as the new date.
TVK Madurai Maanadu Timing
The party has scheduled the conference to begin at 4:00 PM on August 21. Naturally, they expect a massive crowd of party members and Vijay supporters.
Official Statement from TVK
On Monday, TVK released an official confirmation:
“The police advised a date between August 18 and 22 for better security. Therefore, we have fully cooperated and fixed the event for August 21,” said Bussy Anand.
Why This Maanadu Matters
However, TVK’s second conference isn’t just a gathering — instead, it represents a major political milestone.
During the first Maanadu:
- TVK declared DMK as its political rival,
- While it identified BJP as its ideological opponent.
Now, in this second Maanadu, TVK plans to:
- Reveal its 2026 Assembly Election strategies,
- Pass key resolutions, and
- Further, strengthen its ground-level political force.
Moreover, earlier this month, the party officially announced in an executive meeting that Thalapathy Vijay will be TVK’s Chief Minister candidate for 2026.
